Steinlen Elektromaschinenbau GmbH has developed from a traditional craft business into a dynamically growing specialist company for drive technology, which now has seven locations in Germany and Poland. Steinlen currently has over 200 dedicated employees working at our locations in Großburgwedel (near Hanover), Hamburg, Berlin, Ludwigslust, and Poland. In addition, nearly 80 other electrical engineering specialists from Elektrotechnik Jantzen GmbH in Bremerhaven and BOSS-Steinlen Elektromaschinen und Pumpen GmbH in Dortmund strengthen our team and enrich the Steinlen Group.
Looking to the future, we aim to make optimal use of our strong network within the group to offer our customers the best possible solutions for their drive technology requirements. WE CREATE MOTION!
Our services include consulting and sales, repair, maintenance, manufacturing and stock keeping of geared motors, frequency converters and industrial brake systems. Furthermore we are dealing with pumps for water transport and supply, sewage/slop and electric generators/emergency power supplies.
Our selection of new and closely connected partners enables us to offer a wide range of products from all areas of drive technology, including special construction through our own production or modification, pumps (for water extraction and water transport, sewage and waste water disposal) and Generators and emergency power generators.

On August 29, 2025, we celebrated our big anniversary together with numerous guests—a day full of moving and appreciative words, personal encounters with some of our long-standing companions, and many unforgettable moments that we will remember for a long time to come.
During exciting tours of our factory and production halls, we provided exclusive insights into our daily work. In a relaxed atmosphere, guests exchanged ideas, talked shop, and looked back on 120 years of success together. At the same time, we ventured a glimpse into the promising future of our company. A special highlight were the four speeches, including those by the mayor of Burgwedel, Ortrud Wendt, and master craftsman Rolf Schulze from the Hanover Electrical Guild, who shared their thoughts and words of appreciation with the audience—a strong sign of esteem and solidarity.
The day was rounded off with first-class catering, delicious ice cream from the region, aromatic coffee from the barista, an overall atmospheric atmosphere that our employees were also able to enjoy in the afternoon – and a special surprise: VIP tickets for DIE RECKEN were raffled off among all guests and employees. We would like to wish the winners lots of fun and RECKEN ROCK!

Continuation of Schmidtsdorff Elektromotoren by Steinlen from January 1, 2025
From January 1, 2025, Schmidtsdorff's business will be continued as the Berlin branch of Steinlen Elektromaschinenbau GmbH. Schmidtsdorff Elektromotoren is a long-established electrical engineering company. It was founded in Berlin on July 1, 1895, by engineer Rudolf Schmidtsdorff.
Steinlen Elektromaschinenbau GmbH takes over business from Albrecht Antriebstechnik in Ludwigslust
Steinlen Elektromaschinenbau GmbH, based in Burgwedel, Lower Saxony, is taking over the operations of Albrecht Antriebstechnik in Ludwigslust. The family-run company has been active in the field of electric drive technology for almost 40 years and is known in the region as a reliable and competent partner for customers in industry, agriculture, and commerce.
Albrecht Antriebstechnik focuses on electrical engineering and repair, as well as service and machine diagnostics as a key element of condition-based maintenance. The integration of the company into the Steinlen Group began in June 2024. Particular emphasis is being placed on synergies in the areas of production, service, and maintenance.
Steinlen Elektromaschinenbau GmbH remains true to its business policy objectives and, through the acquisition of the company, is expanding its access to further attractive sales markets, thereby further strengthening its own market position.
Steinlen Elektromaschinenbau GmbH takes over the business of the insolvent BOSS Elektromaschinen und Pumpentechnik GmbH in Dortmund
Steinlen Elektromaschinenbau GmbH from Burgwedel/Lower Saxony is taking over the operations of BOSS Elektromaschinen und Pumpentechnik GmbH in Dortmund. The corresponding purchase agreement was signed with legal effect on March 6, 2023 between insolvency administrator Marvin Bauernfeind and Jonas Leffers as Managing Director of Steinlen Elektromaschinenbau GmbH.
The new operating company, BOSS-Steinlen Elektromaschinen und Pumpen GmbH, will continue to employ all existing staff.
Operations have been successfully stabilized in recent months thanks to the joint cooperation between the insolvency administrator and the management of both companies.
BOSS Elektromaschinen und Pumpentechnik GmbH, based in Dortmund harbour, has specialized in the performance of winding and mechanical work on electrical machines for over 50 years and also counts both the public sector in the form of numerous municipal utilities and private clients among its loyal customer base in the field of pump technology.
Steinlen Elektromaschinenbau GmbH sees the takeover as an excellent opportunity to strengthen its own company locally and strategically and to expand its success in the Ruhr region under the new company name BOSS-Steinlen Elektromaschinen und Pumpen GmbH. The needs of the customers are secured for the long term.
